Especially in light of the fact that we are spending money we <i>don’t have</i>, is it greedy and uncaring for people to oppose massive new government initiatives like national government-run healthcare?</p> <p>I think it’s important to realize that no matter what the good intentions are, explosive debt financing is going to wreck this country; no mandated charity is worth destroying an economy.</p> <p>Attached is a graph from the CBO displaying projected deficits.</p> <p>To those who say conservatives and Republicans are mean-spirited, it cannot be emphasized often enough that if the money is not there, it is not there.</p> <p>Regarding notions of charity rebuffed, government is incapable of being charitable because it is not a person, it is an institution, subject to bureaucracy, corruption and ineptitude.
